How to PROPERLY Wash Your Hands.

You might think it’s a case of simply adding a bit of soap, to some running water and rubbing your hands for a few seconds then towel drying.

But you’d be wrong.

Firstly, it takes a lot longer than you might think; we’re told it should last around 20 seconds. That’s as long as it should take to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ twice.

Your first step should be to wet your hands thoroughly with water. Experts now say it makes little difference if the water is warm or cold.

The next step is where our Deep Cleansing Exfoliant comes into playingredients such as Surfacare and neroli essential oil have cleansingantiseptic and antibacterial properties to kill germs and bacteria.

Take a generous amount and rub it into your hands until thick foam covers all of your skin.  You’ll feel the Ecuadorian ivory palm seeds working their way deep into your skin’s pores, removing the hidden dirt.

Then continue to rub your hands together in the following ways:

  1. Palms together;
  2. Use each hand’s palm to rub the back of the other;
  3. Interlock the fingers of each hand;
  4. Rub the backs of your fingers into the palms of the opposite hand;
  5. Rub each thumb with the opposite hand;
  6. Rub the tips of your fingers into the palm of the opposite hand;
  7. Finally, rinse your hands with water.

NHS advice then recommends you dry your hands with a disposable towel and also use it to turn off the tap using the same towel.  This provides the lowest risk of cross-contamination.

Always wash your hands thoroughly before eating and handling food and try to limit the amount you touch your face.
