One Step Closer For The Welsh Wizard!

Saturday night saw Joe Cordina move one step closer to his dream of becoming a world champion, with defeat over Mexican Mario Tinoco.

The fight, at Casino de Mote Carlo, was Joe’s first appearance since dropping down to super-featherweight.

Following a close, 10-round encounter, Joe outpointed his Mexican opponent with two of the judges scoring 98-92 in his favour and the third scoring 96-94 in his favour.

“Don’t get me wrong – he was tough and quite awkward,” he said. “And obviously, I’m moving down in weight. So, I just had to sort of find my feet in there a little bit. I didn’t wanna rush out and just in case I blew it, just because of losing the weight. But I felt fine. I felt perfect, and got the win comfortably. I didn’t feel under pressure at any point. Don’t get me wrong – he can whack and he’s got a lot of knockouts, which his record shows. And he can dig. I was wary of that power from early on. But after I got in a rhythm, it was fine. He was no threat at all.”

Having only made his professional debut in April 2017 Joe is already 11-0 with 7 KOs.  We can’t wait to see what’s next from the Welsh Wizard. Well done Joe!
