Now, more than ever, it’s vitally important that we all take a moment to consider our skincare routine and ask ourselves if it’s really up to scratch.
Well the obvious answer is that we are all (or at least should be) washing our hands more thoroughly and more frequently than ever before which can very easily lead to dried, cracked skin.
If left un-moisturised that cracked skin could leave you more susceptible to infections.
Then there are those of us who are regularly wearing face masks, be it for work or simply when going to the shop or out and about for our daily exercise. These can easily cause irritation that if left untreated can become painful and unsightly.
The recommendation therefore is to wash your face as soon as the mask is removed. This will help clear away any sweat, dirt and debris that has built up. Always use lukewarm water, not hot water which can further compromise the skin.
Frequent washing, however, can result in the skin losing its natural oils (sebum). To prevent this dryness, follow washing with the application of a gentle moisturiser. Apply when the skin is still slightly damp in order to retain as much moisture as possible.
With all this extra time on our hands, many of us have seen our daily exercise routines increase and so are potentially showering more often than ever. As well as the impact of increased washing on your hands and face, don’t forget the rest of your body so be sure to use a shower gel with good moisturising properties.
So there you have it – follow these simple steps and you’ll be on the right track towards ultimate skin protection (and don’t forget to apply a good sun screen in this hot weather!).
